Volunteer Program

The volunteer program at Hubbard Fire District offers opportunities for individuals to serve their community while gaining hands-on training and experience in emergency services. Volunteers play a crucial role in supporting career firefighters during fire suppression, emergency medical services, and other public safety operations. The program provides training in fire supression operations, emergency medical response, wildland firefighting, hazardous materials response, fire investigations, and fire prevention services.  Volunteers also benefit from exposure to real-life expierence, building a strong training foundation for those interested in pursuing a career in fire  or emergencyservices. What are the minimum qualifications to apply?

To become a volunteer at Hubbard Fire District, applicants must meet several requirements to ensure they are prepared for the demands of the job. Applicants must be at least 18 years old, possess a valid driver’s license, and have a high school diploma or equivalent. A strong commitment to physical fitness and the ability to perform under physically demanding tasks. Volunteers must complete an initial background check and be able to attend regular training sessions, which include both classroom and hands-on instruction in firefighting techniques, emergency medical services, and other first responder training. Good communication skills, the ability to work as part of a team, and a willness to learn are essential.

What are the minimum requirements for Hubbard Volunteer Firefighters?

To maintain active status as a volunteer at Hubbard Fire District, individuals are required to provide a minimum of 24 hours of district response coverage per month, contributing to emergency responses, station duties, or training activities. In addition, volunteers are expected to attend at least three of the weekly Monday night drills each month or nine hours of training a month. These drill sessions provide essential hands-on training in firefighting, rescue techniques, and emergency medical response, ensuring that volunteers stay prepared and proficient in their skills. Consistent attendance is critical not only for personal development but also for maintaining the operational readiness of the fire district and ensuring a reliable and effective emergency response.

Cadet Program

The Cadet Program at Hubbard Fire District is designed to engage young individuals who are interested in pursuing a career in fire service or emergency response. Open to high school students, the program provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience and develop essential skills in firefighting, emergency medical services, and other first responder operations. Cadets participate in regular training sessions, which include physical fitness, fire safety, first aid, and leadership development. Under the mentorship of experienced firefighters, cadets learn the importance of teamwork, responsibility, and community service. The program not only prepares participants for future careers in emergency services but also instills a sense of pride and dedication in serving the community of the Hubbard Fire District.

They must also hold a valid driver’s license and maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 or higher to ensure academic responsibility. A clean criminal background is essential, as cadets are expected to demonstrate integrity and trustworthiness. These qualifications ensure that cadets are not only prepared for the responsibilities of the program but also align with the values of the fire district, promoting safety, discipline, and community service.

What are the minimum requirements as a volunteer?

To be eligible for the Cadet Program at Hubbard Fire District, participants must meet several key requirements to ensure their commitment and readiness. Cadets are expected to maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 or higher to demonstrate academic responsibility. They must also attend at least two of the weekly Monday night drills each month, where they receive hands-on training in firefighting, emergency medical services, and other essential skills. Additionally, cadets are required to complete at least one twelve-hour shift per month, providing them with practical experience in station duties and emergency response situations. These requirements are designed to help cadets develop discipline, teamwork, and the practical knowledge needed to pursue a future in fire service.

Training

Hubbard Fire District offers training in the following areas: structural and wildland firefighting, emergency medical response, hazardous material mitigation, fire & EMS instruction, fire investigation, fire inspections, public education, driver/ pump operator training, and fire officer training. All these training aspects help develop well rounded first responders. When this training is paired with experience, we see the rapid development in our first responders.  The Hubbard Fire District also had a budget to send members in good standing to outside training.
