Pulse Point is a relatively new application for both Android and iPhone. It is free and available for download on the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store. This application has two key features.
The first is it will notify you of a cardiac arrest event near you. These events will need to meet certain requirements, the patient must be in a public place and the incident type must be dispatched as a cardiac arrest. You can then can decide if you want help or not. On the app you can register as being cardio pulmonary resuscitation certified (CPR). It will also let you know where the closest automated external defibrillator (AED) is located. This is important because the chain of survival in cardiac arrest events calls for early CPR and defibrillation. This is one way you can help your community and neighbors.
The second feature allows you to see what activities we have been dispatched to in the past 24 hours. If you are curious about what we have been up to you can check it out in the application. Calls are generalized so exact addresses and complaints are not shown. You can register to follow multiple fire districts/departments as well.
The pulse point website is a great resource to learn more about the application. It has videos to help you get set up. As well as studies and success stories about how this application has helped save lives since it has been released. Click here for Pulse Point resources.
